Playing music in your local church is one of the best and fastest ways to progress as a drummer. The church provides a (hopefully) loving, low-risk environment for a drummer to learn how to fit in and interact with other musicians.
I’ve been blessed to play in church and help train up church drummers for almost 20 years. In that time, I’ve noticed a few rhythms and grooves that consistently show up in a lot of church songs today.
